Serving close to 500,000 residents in the Lakhish Region, including Ashkelon, Ashdod, Gaza, Sderot, and other towns in Israel's Negev Desert, Barzilai Medical Center is one of Israel's leading health care clinics. - Barzilai has treated 1,400 patients with acute and post traumatic stress disorders
- Over 100,000 Emergency admissions each year
- 1 hospital bed per 1,000 residents (lowest in the country)
- Only 20 Emergency Department beds
- Only 2 Trauma Beds
- The only hospital in the area, serving over 500,000 area residents
- Barzilai lacks a Trauma Department despite being a Front Line Military Hospital
- 150% constant occupancy each year
- The top two floors of the Center are empty security buffers due to the dire threat of Qassam rockets
